Thanks again for your attention to detail and dedication to finding us the same wines in 3 different states!

- C.B. (New York)

Thank you so much for making our event such a delight. The feedback was terrific. You were able to engage our group well and appreciate your passion for wine.

- B.M. (D.C.)

The information was enjoyable and more thorough than most. I really appreciated that the wines were tailored to my tastes and I was able to taste/learn about specific regions. The wines were great and I'll be purchasing them again for home consumption.

My genuine interest in wine began in 2013 and hasn't let up since!

I started hosting "wine nights" for my friends and quickly realized that

for me, wine was becoming more than just a hobby.

  • 2017 - Moved to D.C. from Michigan

  • 2018 - Changing careers from events to Food & Beverage

    • Began as a Host for a Michelin-star restaurant in a Forbes Five Star hotel in D.C.

  • 2019 - Enrolled in the WSET Level 3 Course

    • Passed the Level 3 exam with Merit (Distinction in Theory)

    • Promoted to Wine Director

  • 2020 - Covid Shutdown

    • Created The Social Somm during quarantine

    • Career "pivot" as Operations Manager overseeing the development and opening of a 14,000 sq. ft. food hall in Foggy Bottom, D.C.

  • 2021 - Passed the Court of Master Sommelier Certified Exam

  • 2022 - Return to Hospitality!

    • Food & Beverage Outlets Manager at Willard InterContinental

  • 2023

    • Received my Diploma from the Wine & Spirits Educations Trust (WSET)

    • Received "Wine Program of the Year" for the Willard InterContinental

I am currently planning to attend the Advanced Sommelier course in 2024 with intention to sit the exams in 2025.

I created The Social Somm as a means of combining my two passions: event planning and wine! My hope is to create experiences that help others fall more deeply in love with wine, one sip at a time.
